Steve McShane will need to make up some ground to defeat Wendy Root Askew for the 4th District supervisor’s seat in Monterey County. He placed second in the March primary, a distant second, but enough to force a runoff in what was then a four-person race.
In the meantime, McShane has been dealing with an ill child while getting his business up and running after a shelter-in-place shutdown. He’s also on the Salinas City Council, which recently lost its mayor, Joe Gunter. So it took a while for The VOMB Squad to catch up with him for our podcast interview. But we finally did it.
If nothing else, McShane said the race has been a “pleasurable experience,” adding that he is grateful that neither candidate is “trashing the community” in their campaigns.
McShane Zoomed in with host Joe Livernois earlier this week. The VOMB Squad interviewed Root Askew last month.
