Gibson: Learning a Lesson

With the pandemic upon us, we have seen that taking a serious issue less seriously than needed will have bad consequences. Taking earlier action can mitigate more costly problems later.

We are in the middle of a rising health crisis, one that will cost lives and money. And the way we respond together now will greatly determine how we deal with other crises in the future.

When this passes, our populations will still be faced with another enemy on the near horizon, that of climate change. How will we treat the facts and science of this issue, seriously or not?

The 50th anniversary of Earth Day was April 22nd. Many years have passed with calls to protect the environment and now the climate. Will we learn from our hard lesson that action is crucial?
