A couple hundred people gathered in the dark around Santa Cruz’s clock tower Tuesday, joining thousands across the country to express themselves on the eve of the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote to impeach President Donald Trump. Cars honked as the crowd shouted “Hey ho! Hey Ho! Donald Trump has got to go!” and other slogans.
In Monterey, about 300 people showed up. Organizer Gary Karnes said many signed up for future precinct work to help defeat Trump, and State Senator Bill Monning told the folks they should consider moving to battleground states, registering to vote and volunteering for the campaign to unseat the president. Two lonely pro-Trumpers carried signs across the street from the pro-impeachment crowd.
