Vulture Capitalists, News Geeks & Stories Told 

Joe Livernois will be the featured speaker at the League of Women Voters Monterey County luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Carmel.

The lunch portion of the event begins at noon, with meals provided by International Cuisine of Pacific Grove for $20. The presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. League officials ask that attendees who wish to have lunch RSVP by Oct. 7 by calling Beverly Kreps at 831-224-3192 or bkreps1017@gmail.com.

Livernois was a reporter, editor and columnist at the Monterey County Herald about 30 years after working for a couple of local weekly newspapers. His presentation,  entitled “Vulture Capitalists, News Geeks & Stories Told,” will tackle local community journalism and the emergence of Voices of Monterey Bay.

The League of Women Voters Monterey County is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. The league never support or oppose any political party or candidate. It serves the cities and counties of Monterey and San Benito counties.

The Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 490 Aguajito Road.
