Monterey, CA – United Way Monterey County (UWMC), Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE), sponsors and volunteers will gather on Saturday, July 27 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to stuff backpacks with new school supplies for distribution to local students. The event will take place at the MCOE offices in Rooms A/B, 901 Blanco Road, Salinas CA.

UWMC’s 9th annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive launched on June 19thStuff the Bus provides new school supplies to the large population of students living in homeless or near homeless conditions in Monterey County. After July 27th, backpacks containing binders, paper, notebooks, pencils, crayons and other supplies will be distributed to students for the upcoming school year.

“Many children look forward to the first day of school with new notebooks, backpacks and pencils, but it’s a different story for children whose families can’t afford these items. The Stuff the Bus school supply drive eases the burden on local families. We are grateful for our community’s contributions towards our annual Stuff the Bus campaign,” said Katy Castagna, President and CEO, UWMC.
