LA CORTINA DE LA LECHUGA is a one-act call to action addressing the housing struggles of a farm-worker families living in the Salinas Valley today. Designed for Spanish speaking audiences this story transcends language, culture and politics to reflect back the hope and strength required to overcome the current housing crisis! LA CORTINA DE LA LECHUGA: THE LETTUCE CURTAIN is the story of resilience and struggle faced by all families.
Featuring special performances by Elizabeth Atilano, Diana Castillo, Francisco Esparza, Luis Gallardo, Eli Murillo, Ramon Rios, Karina Salcedo, Clarissa Salcedo, Mauricio Zamano, and music by Daniel Valdez.

ABOUT CRISTAL GONZALEZ:
Cristal Gonzalez is a first generation Chicana actress, playwright, and director from Watsonville, California, born to campesino (farmworker) parents amidst blooming apple orchards and nurtured by the stories and songs of fellow campesinos. Her first play, “La Sombra” (The Shadow), a solo performance about immigration trauma, loss of innocence, and the cycle of domestic violence, was featured at the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival, as well as the 3rd International Latino Theater Festival in San Diego, CA. The workshop production of her first full length play “Piernas: The Story between Our Legs”
