Monterey Peninsula Pride parade set July 20

Join us for our 3rd Annual Monterey Peninsula Pride Parade and Celebration on Saturday, July 20th 2019.  Our Pride Parade and Celebration will take place in the city of Monterey!

The theme this year is Prismatic Glamour: Community Through Intersectionality. Intersectionality can help us make sense of how race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic standing, age, religion, ethnicity, disability and much more, can overlap and affect how others perceive us.  Intersectionality is the point in which two or more identities meet, which can deeply affect the way people experience their lives. We have the power to uplift one another through empathy and acceptance.  Belonging to a community gives us permission to celebrate our identities and honor the wounds in our hearts. This year, we hope to empower the LGBTQIA+ community and find ways to inspire engaged activism long after the celebration has ended.

The parade will kick off at 11 a.m., starting at Polk St. The route will continue down Polk St, toward Pearl St. The parade will continue through Alvarado St and will end at Alvarado St and E Franklin St.

Following the parade, the celebration will take place at Custom House Plaza by Fisherman’s Wharf at 12:00 p.m. The celebration will include speakers and entertainment.  DJ AyumiPlease will get the dance party started and there will be Drag performances by Rufi-oh, Armani, Tranz Jenner, Destiny Michaels, Xinstra, Athena D’ Amore and Catinni P. Vandon. We will have over 27 local agencies tabling during the celebration portion of our event.  Monterey Peninsula Pride would like to thank the many individuals, businesses, and organizations that are making this event possible! Local food trucks will provide meals and refreshments. This is a FREE, family-friendly event for the community, though donations are appreciated.
