Community events at Fort Ord National Monument Celebrating National Public Lands Week

Please join us in celebrating National Public Lands Week by participating in one or more of these great Saturday events on the former Fort Ord in October of 2018. This year, we are working with partners on supporting community events on Saturday, October 20th and Saturday, October 27th.

The Fort Ord National Monument is all about conserving natural resources, enhancing and improving recreation opportunities, and honoring the military heritage of this special place. The National Public Lands Week events in October all embrace those elements.

Join the celebration by participating in one or more of these activities:

Saturday – October 20, 2018: Join community supporters and participate in the Honor Our Fallen 5K and 10K Race/Walk as a “competitor” or “volunteer” at Fort Ord Dunes State Park. The Saturday event helps support programs for Gold Star Family members and is hosted by the U.S. Army’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program. Please register in advance as a “volunteer” at http://signup.com/go/jHRwSSh, or as a “competitor” at https://www.active.com/.

Saturday – October 27, 2018: Join other volunteers on the Fort Ord National Monument and lend a hand in collecting native plant seed or performing other rewarding work in a beautiful setting. Volunteers to the volunteer event will be treated to a free lunch and entertainment at the intersection of Jack’s Road and Skyline Road (Lightfighter LZ) following the work project. Please register in advance at http://signup.com/go/wbkmNRw
