Native plant sale scheduled Oct. 6 in Carmel Valley

The annual Fall Native Plant Sale of the Monterey Bay Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) will be Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MEarth, Hilton Bialek Habitat on the grounds of Carmel Middle School, 4280 Carmel Valley Rd.

Now in its fifth decade, the Native Plant Sale features hundreds of varieties of California native plants best suited for the Monterey Bay area and ready to plant in your garden. Also available are books on a variety of garden topics and free advice from experts on the native plants of our area.

Patrick Regan, chair of the Native Plant Sale and longtime area horticulturist, said autumn is the best time of year to add new plants to your garden. “Whether you are new to gardening with California natives or well-experienced in the rewards of this kind of landscaping, we invite you to come join us,” Regan said.

Members of the CNPS receive a 10 percent discount and new members can join the day of the sale and enjoy this benefit. The list of available plants will be posted at http://montereybay.cnps.org by Sept. 29.
