Seymour Center presents Sea Otter Awareness Week

WHAT
Sea Otter Awareness Week Special Presentation:
In the Crosshairs: An Update on the Sea Otter Survival Story
WHEN
Sunday, September 30, 2018
4:00-5:00 PM
WHERE
Seymour Marine Discovery Center, 100 McAllister Way, Santa Cruz, CA 95060
DETAILS
Join Kim Steinhardt, former administrative law judge turned environmental writer and marine wildlife photographer, for a photo journey through the fascinating life of the southern sea otter—as well as a look into the evolving legal policy side of this story. This unfinished saga of the sometimes-complex relationship between humans and nature reveals as much about us as it does about this keystone species.
The iconic southern sea otter has been protected under the Endangered Species Act since 1977, but today that groundbreaking law is itself endangered by powerful political challenges. Plus, the small number of remaining southern sea otters along our coast face human-made obstacles to their survival, including legal threats, that rival any natural environmental concerns.
Event is included with admission to the Seymour Center.
