League of Women Voters program to focus on short-term rentals

The League of Women Voters of Monterey County cordially invites you to attend our September Lunch & Learn on Wednesday September 12, 2018

The topic is “Should Short Term Rentals Be Allowed”

We welcome three speakers who will present their answers to this challenging question. Jan Leasure is currently the Managing Broker of Monterey Bay Vacation Rentals, a property management company. She has managed both vacation rental property and long term rentals in Monterey County for 35 years. Jan currently represents approximately 500 properties.  Luke Colletti is a Pacific Grove resident and supporter of the initiative measure that would prohibit short term rentals in order to “preserve and protect Pacific Grove’s residential character,” in the city’s residential zones.  He is a Senior Research Technician at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.

Priscilla Walton received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She was raised in Peru, and was a Peace Corps volunteer in 1962-1963. She was a professor of education at UC Santa Cruz from 1998 to 2005. Priscilla has lived in Carmel Valley since 1987 and is president of the Carmel Valley Association.  She was President, Democratic Women of Monterey County 2008-2012, and is a current member of the County Democratic Central Committee and the League of Women Voters.
