Northern Monterey County Foundation Announces Grant Program

Monterey County, California — The future of philanthropy in Northern Monterey County was the topic of recent event held at the Pajaro Valley Golf Club. Hosted by the Advisory Board of the Northern Monterey County Foundation (NMCF), around 70
community members, many of them donors to the NMCF, came together to learn about the positive impact that has been made, and hear about efforts to build for the future by investing in North County.

“North County is a special place. The Northern Monterey County Foundation is a way for all of us to invest in our region, and our neighbors,” said Don Chapin, NMCF Advisory Board Chair. Founded in 2016, the NMCF provides grants to nonprofit projects and programs to benefit the communities of Aromas, Bolsa Knolls, Boronda, Castroville, Elkhorn, Las Lomas, Moss Landing, Oak Hills, Pajaro, Prunedale, Royal Oaks and Santa Rita.

“The NMCF granted $24,000 in its first year,” Chapin told the guests. “At the same time, an endowment of nearly $80,000 has been built. All of which is thanks to our donors. Our goal is to grow the endowment for future North County needs, while providing grants now to make an immediate positive impact.”

The NMCF, an affiliate fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County, has $25,000 available to grant in 2018 to nonprofit organizations, public programs and other groups serving Northern Monterey County residents. Grants will range from $500 to $3,000 and Grant proposals are due Friday, June 1, 2018 by 5:00pm. Applications may be found online at www.cfmco.org/NMCF.
