NAMI State Conference Comes to Monterey County Mental-health organization will gather June 1 and 2 at Hyatt Regency

The National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold its annual state conference in Monterey on June 1 and 2 at the Hyatt Regency. It is the first time the California NAMI is holdings its annual event in Monterey.

Among the speakers will be Chamique Holdsclaw, an Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA basketball player, and Dr. Wayne C. Drevets of Janssen Research and Development. The theme for the conference is “United Voices: A Stronger California.” State NAMI conferences generally attract hundreds of attendees each year.

NAMI is the largest grassroots organization in the United States to provide education and support for people with mental health conditions and their families. NAMI Monterey County provides signature programs to dozens of consumers and their families each year.

Residents from Monterey and Santa Cruz counties who wish to attend the conference for free can volunteer. For more information on volunteer opportunities, see the NAMI conference volunteer site here. Or contact Joe Livernois at jlivernois@namimonterey.org
