Uprooting Racism Event Scheduled Sunday in Carmel

This Sunday, Feb 11, from 2-4, Paul Kivel will be speaking at an interactive book reading
at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 490 Aguajito Rd., Carmel.

He is celebrating the 4th edition of his book “Uprooting Racism; How White People Can Work for Racial Justice.” Completely revised and updated, this fourth edition of Uprooting Racism provides practical tools and advice on how white people can work as allies for racial justice, engaging the reader through questions,
exercises, and suggestions for action.

Paul Kivel is an American writer, educator, and activist. He co-founded SURJ; Showing Up for Racial Justice,
a national network of groups and individuals organizing white people for racial justice, and the Oakland Men’s Project, a community education center focused on preventing male violence.

This event is free and open to the public.

His talk is co-sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church and Whites for Racial Equity.
