The 16 studio artists at Pacific Grove Art Center will open their studio doors to the public during the Gala Opening reception of new exhibits from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at 568 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove. The acoustic folk duo Servo 7 will be playing in the Gill Gallery. Admission to the nonprofit PGAC is made possible through donations, and the new exhibits will be on display until Feb. 23.

Discover what has been going on in the 16 studios at the Pacific Grove Art Center. Studio space for artists is an integral part of the PGAC’s mission to foster growth of the arts in the community. Additionally, a number of these artists give back to the community through exhibitions, as well as teaching workshops and children’s classes.
The Progressive Mural Project, Dyke Gallery
The indoor mural project will establish partnerships with schools, organizations, and cities on the Peninsula, broadening opportunities in education and potential jobs. Charlsie Kelly will lead periodic classes to design, layout and paint the murals. Kelley will consult with other successful muralists to insure concepts are professional and impactful. Throughout the year the mural will evolve to include visions of local events that occur throughout the county. The result will be a massive art piece that captures the many events that draw people to our area.
Kathryn Stotler – Looking Out/Looking In, Annand Gallery
Looking Out/Looking in is a collection of paintings about rocks that came to me quickly and compulsively. I have looked out at rock studded scenes for years but since I have been looking at them closely I feel there is no other landscape. I do not paint this landscape in its pure form but take the elements that thrill me and record them on canvas.
Padre Trails Camera Club, Boyer Gallery
Padre Trails Camera Club has been active on the Monterey Peninsula since 1948. Club members come from throughout the central coastal area of California as well as beyond. Padre Trails is a completely volunteer organization with elected officers and members responsible for various club functions. Club members express their artistic creativity through photography and print making. PTCC members benefit through open discussion, image and technique sharing, informational programs, “Group Shoots” and friendly competition.
