Capitola, CA. Imagine trying to provide holiday gifts and meals for your family if one of your children had cancer or another serious illness. The expenses during treatment mount, rides back and forth to Stanford or UCSF are exhausting. You worry about your child who is sick, but also feel guilt and concern about brothers and sisters left at home or with friends or relatives while you’re at the hospital. Imagine if you had to quit your job to manage care.
Now, imagine the joy you would feel if someone cared enough to shop for you and deliver your wish list to your doorstep or hospital room. Imagine the comfort you’d feel if a holiday meal were brought to your home or to your child’s hospital room. Imagine the relief you’d feel receiving a gas card or grocery gift card…or a gift certificate for a special dinner out.
The Capitola Mall is partnering with Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services to make sure that children with cancer and other serious illnesses have joy and love this holiday season.
This year Holiday Hearts includes a special Gift Card and Toy Drives at the Capitola Mall from now until New Year’s Eve.
Bring an unwrapped toy, gas or gift card to Jacob’s Heart’s storefront, near the front entrance of the mall, right next to Starbucks and across from Chilis Grill and Bar Restaurant from now through the end of the year. There will be a community open house with Jacob’s Heart at the mall Saturday December 16th from 2 to 4 pm. Holiday treats will be served and winners of the Holiday Hearts Art Contest will be announced.
