Free Thanksgiving Dinner for Vets at Legion Post #41 Thursday

Veterans are invited to have a free Thanksgiving dinner at American Legion Post #41, near Veterans Park at 1110 Jefferson St.

“We’ve had three turkeys donated already,” said Michael Forbes “and Pete Duvall and I will be cooking them. Guests are invited to bring other food to add to our meal, if they would like, but that’s not necessary.”

The Legion doors open at 12 noon on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, and food will be served from 1-5 p.m. “or until it runs out,” said Forbes with a smile. “The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness… it’s what we do,”

Because of the Thanksgiving meal, the usual steak lunch will not be cooked on Wednesday, Nov. 22, but will start again on Nov. 29 every Wednesday. Post 41 is open to all Veterans from 2-9 p.m. daily, except on Sunday and Tuesday.
