Rey, seen at 18, picked strawberries
in the Pajaro Valley. He started
working in the fields when he was
14 years old. He recalled picking
berries while a tractor in an
adjacent field was spraying. The
strong wind blew the spray toward
him and other workers. It smelled
like chemicals, he says. He recently
enlisted in the military.
