Monterey California, Tuesday, October 29, 2019 — Congratulations to Hospice Giving Foundation Grantee Central Coast VNA & Hospice on their new Latino Mobile Resource Center Van for South Monterey County. Funds for the van were provided by a grant from HG Foundation.
To better meet the needs of those living in South Monterey County, VNA has launched a new, innovative Latino Mobile Resource Center as part of Juntos con Esperanza, Together with Hope, an initiative of Hospice Giving Foundation.
The van will make it easier for the VNA team to bridge a gap among Latinos living in South County — expanding end-of-life services with respect for language, culture, faith and family. VNA Hospice medical social worker Linda Rios painted the side of the van with colorful, inspirational artwork depicting a VNA nurse standing in a field of calla lilies.
The public is invited to see the van and meet members of the VNA team at a special ribbon-cutting with the King City Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place Friday, November 1, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the VNA office (next to See Memorial), 400 Canal St., King City, and will include small bites for the enjoyment of guests.
Juntos con Esperanza, Together with Hope is a collaborative of organizations and individuals committed to working together on end-of-life care for people in South Monterey County to better understand what makes it so hard for all people, especially in the Latino culture, to talk about end of life and to improve services to this community. Our goal is to make life better by helping families get good care when they need it, in the way they need it, with respect for their culture, faith and family. Members include: Alliance on Aging, Catholic Church of St John, Central Coast VNA & Hospice, Community Leaders, Diocese of Monterey, First Baptist Church of King City, HG Foundation, Hospice of the Central Coast, Legal Services for Seniors, Mee Memorial Hospital, Monterey Department of Social Services – In Home Supportive Services, Natividad Medical Center, Sol Treasures, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
