Youth Orchestra Salinas sets winter concert at Sherwood Hall

| NONPROFIT NEWS

Youth Orchestra Salinas (YOSAL) will present a Winter Concert at Sherwood Hall on Saturday, December 10th, at 3:00 PM. Admission is free to the public but tickets must be reserved by December 6th. More than 200 students from Salinas and South County schools will perform a diverse program of classical, cultural, and holiday music.

In addition, we are excited to announce a special appearance by local professional Mexican band, 4to Prestigio.

“We want to invite all of our friends and neighbors, not only in Salinas but from all over Monterey County, to experience this exciting concert, which will feature our incredible students and YOSAL Artists, as well as combine their talents with the non-classical, Mexican regional band, 4to Prestigio. A youth orchestra brings families together, and there is no better way to celebrate the season and community than through the power of music.” – Ameena Maria Khawaja.

About Youth Orchestra Salinas: Founded in the Summer of 2010, YOSAL is an El Sistema-inspired orchestral and early music education program. Students learn to be responsible citizens and develop interpersonal and collaborative skills as their self-confidence grows. Working with local school boards and social organizations, YOSAL is a tuition-free program and operates year-round. Surveys have shown that YOSAL students benefit from improved study habits, higher grades, better relationships both at home and in school, and boosted self-esteem and confidence. We are currently serving 200 students from over 35 different schools in four school districts throughout the city of Salinas.
