$50,000 available for resident-led groups through Community Foundation

Monterey County, CA  – The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) has a total of $50,000 available to award to volunteer-led groups through the 2020 Neighborhood Grants Program. Community groups
throughout Monterey County are encouraged to apply. Applicants do not have to be recognized as a nonprofit 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Grants range from $500 to $4,000 and applications are available online at
www.cfmco.org/NGP .

The application deadline is Friday, February 14, 2020 before 5 p.m. Groups interested in applying are
encouraged to attend an Information Sessions on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at
Community Foundation for Monterey County’s office 945 Main Street, Suite 207 in Salinas. To register or

“The goal of the Neighborhood Grants Program is to empower residents to lead change in their neighborhoods,”
said Erika Matadamas, Program Officer for the CFMC. The Neighborhood Grants Program supports grassroots
groups who are working to improve their communities for themselves and their neighbors. Grants have included
support for groups who organized parent- and volunteer-led programs focusing on youth sports and leadership,
cultural arts programs, advocacy and support groups and neighborhood improvement. Since the program’s
inception in 1997, $1,075,000 has been awarded.
