United Way Monterey County to celebrate MLK

Monterey, CA – United Way Monterey County (UWMC), along with local artists, students and community volunteers, will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by painting a mural expressing a message of education, diversity, and inclusion. The mural is designed by the local artist group, Secret Artist Community (SAC).

The event is sponsored by Monterey Bay Community Power and Comcast California. It will take place at the Marina Vista Elementary Arts Academy located at 390 Carmel Ave., Marina, CA 93933 between 8:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M on Jan 20.

“Monterey Bay Community Power is honored to partner with a truly impactful community organization like United Way Monterey County, and to support a project that celebrates Martin Luther King Day as well as the intersection of education, art, diversity and inclusion. The mural will be an inspiration to all, including everyone at MBCP,” said Alexis Garcia-Arrazola, Energy Public Engagement Associate, Monterey Bay Community Power.

Marina Vista Elementary Arts Academy was selected to operate as a Turnaround Arts California partner school since 2018. Turnaround Arts program leverages the arts as a strategic tool to support student learning and school improvement efforts.
