Organic Produce Summit promotes NAMI Monterey County with donation

Monterey, CA — Organic Produce Summit, the only event dedicated exclusively to bringing together producers and buyers of the organic fresh produce industry, is giving back to the community with a donation of $5,000 to the Monterey County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Monterey County.

Officials at OPS chose NAMI Monterey County to be the recipient of all proceeds from the Organic Innovation Showcase at their recent show in Monterey.

NAMI Monterey County is an affiliate of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for individuals and their family members affected by mental illness.  Founded in 1984, NAMI Monterey County offers free education, resources, family support, and reduction of stigma associated with mental illness.

“We are very grateful to be selected as the 2019 OPS recipient, and we will use the donation to expand our outreach and further develop our free education programs as we try to be a source of help and hope for the community,” says Laurie Classen, treasurer of NAMI Monterey County.
